Germantown Garden Club presents a talk about Rain Gardens.

Who knew there was such a thing as a rain garden! Learn all about this new type of gardening with the Germantown Garden Club at their November meeting. Elizabeth LoGuidice and Donna Peterson, from the CCE Columbia-Greene Counties, will give a presentation on “Rain Gardens.” A rain garden is a shallow depression that is planted with deep-rooted native plants and grasses. This type of garden is positioned near a runoff source like a downspout, driveway, or sump pump to capture rainwater runoff and stop the water from reaching the sewer system or a roadway. Elizabeth and Donna will give a presentation about this type of garden and how to plant one. A question and answer session will follow.

Election of club officers will also take place. This Saturday meeting is open to the public and is a great opportunity for people interested in garden clubs who usually can’t attend weekday meetings. Refreshments will be served. The meeting is open to the public, new members are always welcomed.
